Overview

VoxyAI is a macOS application that captures your voice, transcribes it using speech recognition, formats the text using AI, and pastes it into your active application. This policy explains exactly what data is collected, how it is processed, and your privacy choices.

Data Collection Summary

VoxyAI processes the following types of data:

• Voice Audio: Captured temporarily for speech recognition
• Transcribed Text: Processed for AI formatting
• Application Context: Name of the active application (for formatting optimization)
• User Preferences: Settings stored locally on your device

VoxyAI does not collect personal information such as your name, email, location, contacts, or device identifiers.

Speech Recognition

VoxyAI uses the macOS Speech Recognition framework (SFSpeechRecognizer) to convert your voice to text.

How Speech Recognition Works

1. Audio is captured from your Mac's microphone
2. Audio is processed by Apple's on-device speech recognition (when available) or Apple's servers
3. Transcribed text is returned to VoxyAI for AI formatting
4. Audio data is immediately discarded after transcription

Voice Data Storage

VoxyAI does not store any voice recordings. Audio exists only in memory during the brief recording and transcription period. Once speech recognition is complete, all audio data is discarded.

AI Text Formatting

VoxyAI uses AI services to format your transcribed text. You can choose from multiple AI providers based on your privacy preferences.

Available AI Providers

• Apple Intelligence: On-device processing (macOS 26+, Apple Silicon)
• Ollama: Runs locally on your Mac - no data leaves your device
• OpenAI: Cloud-based processing via OpenAI's API
• Anthropic Claude: Cloud-based processing via Anthropic's API
• Google Gemini: Cloud-based processing via Google's API
• Groq: Cloud-based processing via Groq's API
• Mistral: Cloud-based processing via Mistral's API
• Perplexity: Cloud-based processing via Perplexity's API

On-Device AI Options

For maximum privacy, you can use Apple Intelligence or Ollama. With these options, your text is processed entirely on your Mac and never transmitted to external servers.

Data Sent to AI Providers

When using any AI provider, VoxyAI sends:

• Your transcribed text (the words you spoke)
• Formatting instructions based on your settings (tone, context type)
• The name of your active application for context-aware formatting

VoxyAI does not send: voice audio recordings, personal identifiers, contents of other applications, clipboard history, or file contents from your Mac.

API Key Storage

All API keys are stored securely in the macOS Keychain, Apple's built-in credential management system. API keys are never transmitted to VoxyAI servers, never logged or stored in plain text, and are deleted from the Keychain when you remove them from VoxyAI settings.

Permissions

Accessibility: Used solely to simulate keyboard paste commands and detect the active application. VoxyAI does not read content from other applications, monitor keyboard input, or capture screenshots.

Microphone: Accessed only when you actively trigger a recording session. VoxyAI does not perform background listening or always-on recording.

Third-Party Services

VoxyAI communicates with the following external services:

• Apple's Speech Recognition: For voice-to-text transcription
• AI Providers: The cloud AI provider you choose (if not using on-device options)
• Paddle: For payment processing (at time of purchase)
• Keygen.sh: For license validation

VoxyAI does not use analytics, crash reporting services, advertising networks, or user behavior monitoring tools.

Purchases and Payment Processing

Paddle (Payment Processor)

Purchases are processed by Paddle.com Market Limited ("Paddle"), who acts as the Merchant of Record for all transactions. Paddle collects your payment information, email address, and billing address. VoxyAI does not receive or store your payment card information.

Software licenses are managed by Keygen.sh. Your license key is validated against their servers, and your email address is associated with your license.

Data Retention

• Voice recordings: Not retained (exist only during active recording)
• Transcribed text: Not retained (exists only during formatting process)
• User preferences: Retained until you change or uninstall the app
• API keys: Retained in Keychain until you remove them

Data Security

VoxyAI implements security measures including: API keys stored in encrypted macOS Keychain, HTTPS encryption for all cloud communications, and secret scanning to prevent accidental inclusion of API keys in formatted text. VoxyAI operates no servers.

Your Privacy Choices

• Use on-device AI: Choose Apple Intelligence or Ollama to keep all processing on your Mac
• Choose your cloud provider: Select the provider whose privacy practices you trust
• Manage API keys: Add or remove API keys at any time through Settings
• Revoke permissions: Remove Microphone or Accessibility access in System Settings at any time

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in the app or legal requirements. The "Last updated" date at the top will be revised when changes are made.
